Artist Statement

Completing my first commission was a delicate and intricate process that took at least a week to finish. After collecting reference images from my client, I like to spend a few moments studying them to find the inspiration that ignites my creativity.

The process begins with capturing the expression, which is the most important aspect of my artwork. Once I have that, I shift my focus to the pose that complements the specific expression. In this piece, I aimed to depict the courageous nature of my client’s character and species.

These traits are showcased by a big grin on their face, which causes their cheeks to rise gently and partially cover their eyes. The blush indicates that, while they are a confident individual, they also possess a softer, more delicate soul.

As an intermediate artist, my shading and rendering technique can be described as minor shading. This approach gives my work a gentle feel that surprises viewers when they look closely, generating curiosity from a distance.
